Wings Are Made To Fly

I got to play over the weekend, so as my current alarm tone is the Glee versions of
"Wings" the line "Wings are made to fly" has been stuck in my head (probably
because my alarm goes off and snoozes at least 3-5 times in the morning!) and over the
past week this design came to mind.

Using Paperbabes stencils & face stamps, I drew out my girls face and from there drew
the wings which I then outlined both in pen.
Moving onto colouring in, I used Tim Holtz distress paints in the following colours;
Milled Lavender
Shaded Lilac
Dusty Concord
Seeded Preserves
Victoria Velvert
Tattered Rose
Walnut Stain

I built up the wings colour with all the different purples, generally using my fingers to blend in.
Until I was happy, then I added texture with stencils and distress inks in Peacock Feathers
and Shaded Lilac

Once happy with the face I moved onto the background, where i blended Distress Paints
Peacock Feathers, Stormy Sky and Worn Lip Stick. Then using more stencils,
I added the butterflies and patterns (don't quite know what to call them!)

The final touches was stamping the title using an indigo blu alphabet stamp in Memento ink pad
Rich Cocoa and then a few strips of washi tape which I inked slightly with Dusty Concord.

Anything Goes - Cherish

Taking part in the Craft Stamper September challenge - Take a Stamp "Anything Goes" so here is my offering;

A friend recently sent me a blank heart (found in The Works) to decorate for a craft group swap, once again anything goes;

I started by sticking a base of 3 random bits of scrap patterned paper that had been lying on my craft desk for a while. Once dry, I inked the edges with distress ink aged mahogany and vintage photo. As I love the look, when working in these hues I like to add touch of metallic acrylic paint in titanium gold, which I added around the edges then dry brushed over the heart.
When happy I spritzed with distress spray Tattered Rose & Tarnished Bronze.

Then I used a Santoro girl stamp for the main image, who I coloured in with promarkers & also dry brushed with the metallic paint. I then cut her out to fit to the bottom of the heart and secured with foam pads to give a bit of dimension.

Using a random bit of white card again from lying around my desk, I coloured it using distress inks Bundled sage & Old Paper.  I then went on to stamp up one of my favourite word background stamps in vintage photo. Then I choose a sentiment which I stamped in black.  Once done & dry to touch I tore around the edges which were inked up with vintage photo and again with the metallic gold paint. Once glued down, I added a few tiny gems.
Also here, I punched out a butterfly in some of the left over patterned paper, once again to give a bit of dimension I made it 3D by punching out 3 and sticking together in a way they stand out.

I punched out 6 flowers once again in the left over scrap patterned paper, which were dry brushed with the gold paint before being stuck down and a gem added.
Finally I took one of my most well used set of stamped - Card-io peg stamps in Dragonflies at Dusk. Just adding the one dragonfly and a couple of the stars to finish.

I'm now waiting on who of my friends in my craft group will be receiving this fun little piece and will hopefully "cherish" it!

There we go :) you can find the Craft Stamper challenge

Day Dreamer / Night Thinker

So having seen Paperbabe stamps on Etsy I really really want to get some of the profile stamps!

Overall drawing is not my strong point, but had a crack at a half profile with long flowing locks for the Paperbabe challenge with the them of "Hair";

Frog Prince Kisses

So I pretty much fell out of crafting for awhile, but finding my feet again!

But having recently found a new crafty friend who lives right across the road, I'm slowly getting back into it :D

I'm very much feeling art journally at the moment, so was inspired by the Tiddly Inks Challenge - GREEN! Especially as only last weekend I'd purchased the Tiddly Inks "Kiss Me" digital image - http://www.tiddlyinks.com/kiss-me/

So here is my art journal page - Frog Prince Kisses for the Tiddly Ink Challenge:

Its been awhile...

Wow, been quite a while since I last posted on my craft blog.
Been very busy with work, going to New York, a craft weekend, more work!
But thought that I would try and start to blog regular again to keep me
inspired as found I've had a lack of mojo lately!

So here is my first offering for a while, using Cristy Croll (Tiddly Inks) Unicorn
from the Fantasy Friends collection - http://tiddlyinks.com/fantasy-friends/

Using promarkers, I've coloured in my unicorn with the following:

Body - Ivory, Satin and Blush
Mane/Tail - Pastel Blue, Denim and Cornflow
Edge - Almond

Heart I've done by colouring some card with Paper Soft paints in
Blue and Purple, then stamping a background image it on with
Distress Ink Peacock Feathers, which I've then used my xcut Heart
nesting die to cut out the shape and the largest heart to create
a backing piece in the light blue card.

Pretty butterfly background paper is from Dreamcatcher (by First Edition)

Oh but we're only 10 days away from my favourite-est night of the year <|:D

Coloured in this cute little guy from Kraftin' Kimmie the other week and got round to putting him on a card at yesterdays crop (see Gorgeous Girl post for details lol).

I adore this halloween paper, so have left the card quite minimal as every time I went to add a new element a section of the paper I liked got covered.  I did however add 3 doodlebug halloween gems (that I've had YEARS) and the cute little bat which is was popped out of decopage set by Daisy and Dandelion.

Roll on spooky candy night :D

Gorgeous Girls

Went to celebrate my lovely friends Cals 50th birthday yesterday at the Rochdale Crop, however being the fool that I am stayed up faaaaar too late Friday night and was cream crackered most of Saturday followed by major food coma after stuffing myself on the buffet that was put on!

However I did manage to create this, using a LO from Creative Craft World and some gorgeous Oriental papers (cos my girls are chinese cresties, get it lol).

Inked blossoms using vintage photo, dusty concord and marmalade distress inks.
Lettering were in fact white thickers (pinched off my WONDERFUL friend Ruth), which I think coated in vintage photo and stamped some more blossoms on with dusty concord.

Liddle bit of bling (though wilko gems and they fall off if you look at them! Will need to go back over them with glossy accents to secure!)

Miss Penelope Ursa Brownbear with flowers punched from the papers

Baby Belle and a ring of gems

Altered thickers lettering and a little bit of journalling.
