A friend recently sent me a blank heart (found in The Works) to decorate for a craft group swap, once again anything goes;
I started by sticking a base of 3 random bits of scrap patterned paper that had been lying on my craft desk for a while. Once dry, I inked the edges with distress ink aged mahogany and vintage photo. As I love the look, when working in these hues I like to add touch of metallic acrylic paint in titanium gold, which I added around the edges then dry brushed over the heart.
When happy I spritzed with distress spray Tattered Rose & Tarnished Bronze.
Then I used a Santoro girl stamp for the main image, who I coloured in with promarkers & also dry brushed with the metallic paint. I then cut her out to fit to the bottom of the heart and secured with foam pads to give a bit of dimension.

Using a random bit of white card again from lying around my desk, I coloured it using distress inks Bundled sage & Old Paper. I then went on to stamp up one of my favourite word background stamps in vintage photo. Then I choose a sentiment which I stamped in black. Once done & dry to touch I tore around the edges which were inked up with vintage photo and again with the metallic gold paint. Once glued down, I added a few tiny gems.
Also here, I punched out a butterfly in some of the left over patterned paper, once again to give a bit of dimension I made it 3D by punching out 3 and sticking together in a way they stand out.

I punched out 6 flowers once again in the left over scrap patterned paper, which were dry brushed with the gold paint before being stuck down and a gem added.
Finally I took one of my most well used set of stamped - Card-io peg stamps in Dragonflies at Dusk. Just adding the one dragonfly and a couple of the stars to finish.
I'm now waiting on who of my friends in my craft group will be receiving this fun little piece and will hopefully "cherish" it!
